Dear Sauganash School Families:

For the last few years, we have brought our parents, staff and community members together for dinner, drinks, dancing, fundraising games and raffles at our Spring Benefit. We are thrilled to plan the event again this year. Given the popularity and size last year, we have moved the venue to the newly remodeled Holiday Inn in Skokie. We hope that you will be able to join us this year too! It is a fantastic opportunity to get together, build our community and maintain our amazing school. We highly encourage everyone to join us, including members of our neighborhood community. Please know that we do not assign tables/seating and you do not have to purchase tickets as a group.

Our kids need your help to keep our school so special. The money we raise at the Spring Benefit adds to all of the fundraising the PTO does to support our children, boost teacher impact and expand learning each school year. It takes a lot of time, effort and volunteers to plan a successful event. We have included an attachment that helps outline many of the different ways we will be asking you for help and support so that our event can be as successful as possible.

Ways to Participate

Auction Items (Live & Silent)

The benefit will feature live and silent auctions. Silent auction bidding will take place electronically through our GiveSmart website the week before the event. The live auction will take place at the party on March 7th. We are in need of donations! Do you own a business or know of someone that does? Do you have season tickets for a local team? Looking to part with gift cards you have no use for? We are seeking donations such as restaurant gift cards, hotel stays, tickets to concerts or sporting events, vacation rentals and much more. Please contact our auction chair, Caroline Giamalva, to donate an auction item – [email protected]

Sign-Up Parties

At the benefit, you can sign up to attend fun, themed parties hosted by Sauganash parents held throughout the year. You decide if you would like to host alone or have co-hosts, the theme, the location, the date, how many attendees and other details. Some ideas for themes may include Spa Night, Mardi Gras, Sports, Game Night, etc. We ask that you set the date after March 7th and before the spring benefit in 2021. You can host in your house, backyard, garage, restaurant, bar, wherever! Any parent or staff can sign up on the poster board the night of the benefit (March 7th). A preview of the offered parties will be available in advance on our GiveSmart website. The money paid to attend the parties goes to Friends of Sauganash PTO. Grade Level Art Projects

Many of our children have already begun work on their grade level art project. Unique and handmade, each grade level will come together to create a work of art to be auctioned the night of the benefit. The artwork will be available for preview on the GiveSmart website prior to the event. Thank you to Katrina Ramos, Chai Wolfman and ALL of the parents who have already stepped up to facilitate these projects! We greatly appreciate it.

Grade Level Raffle Baskets

Back by popular demand, themed gift baskets will be raffled off on March 7th. Our teachers, along with your room parents and an army of volunteers, will be collecting items related to each theme. Please watch for upcoming communications on the assigned grade level theme and how you can contribute to making your child’s basket a hit. Last year all of the gift baskets were amazing!!!! Teacher Time

With Teacher Time, parents are able to bid on activities that their child can do with a teacher or staff member. Teacher Time will be available for purchase/bidding on the GiveSmart website. The bidding will start on Friday, February 14th and close on Sunday, February 23rd at 8:00pm. All proceeds go directly toward the Friends of Sauganash PTO. Stay tuned for more details! A special thanks to our teachers and staff for donating their time and talent to these popular activities that help support the PTO. They are always a HUGE hit with our kids.

Raffle Tickets

We will be sending home a supply of raffle tickets for each student to sell. We are asking each student to sell $30 worth of tickets (3 tickets at $10 apiece). Anyone can purchase a ticket – aunts, uncles, grandparents, neighbors, coaches, friends… Winning tickets are selected on March 7th and winners need not be present to win! Winners receive one of three monetary prizes ($1,000, $500 or $250) and ticket sellers win prizes too! Tickets are also available for online purchase on the GiveSmart website. If purchased online, your ticket will be filled out and placed in the ticket drum for our drawing on March 7th. Contact Laura Honda with raffle questions – [email protected].

Ad Space

We are offering a printed color ad book to all attendees during the event. Local businesses will have the opportunity to advertise their business on our websites, mobile app and in our printed color ad book. If you would like to advertise your business, please contact Erin Alvarez – [email protected] – for pricing. In addition, we are also offering personal space to congratulate your child and include a picture for 8th grade/kindergarten graduations, big games, recitals, etc. Information and a form will be coming home soon!

Volunteer at the Event

Many hands make light work! A benefit like this could never happen without the help of volunteers. Please consider helping set up and/or volunteer the night of the party. Contact Sarah Creviston to learn what volunteer opportunities are available – [email protected].
