Be on the official “welcome back to school” party team!  This event is a great way to catch up and celebrate Sauganash School!  Help arrange food, music, set up, clean and fun. Volunteers make the event fun for everyone!

If your dream is to be locked in a bookstore overnight and if you love helping children select wonderful books, this is the assignment for you!  Assistants help set up (sneak peek), tear down, and help children, parents & teachers find the perfect books for themselves and for gifts during the fair!  Set up Fridays before the fair, tear down Wednesday afternoons of the fair.

A family party for grades K-5. Come dressed to thrill and scare for Halloween!  Chairperson and assistants work with a small budget to plan the festivities (food, DJ, games, decorations, etc.). Volunteers make the magic happen at this annual spook-tacular!

Help plan, coordinate and organize a family bingo and 50/50 Raffle event to be held at the school in the cafeteria.

This community event for our school is so much fun.  Families are invited to come for a FREE dinner, usually donated by an area restaurant.  We need help coordinating food as well as volunteers to help make this happen.

Our teachers are gonna love you! Within a provided budget, coordinator plans a May Teacher Appreciation Luncheon, which traditionally has included home- and restaurant-made delicacies, special snacks, door decorations and more! Assistants help set up, clean up, and serve.

Help plan, coordinate and organize the PTO Benefit event with a silent auction, music, and eats. Good food, great friends, and a great cause come together for a fun filled evening of giving.

This Sauganash tradition is so much fun, and the best part about it is that it costs nothing, kids love it, and it encourages reading. Students bring in their already read books, and swap them for new ones.  We need someone to coordinate and help organize this fun event during the school day.

Do you love planning a fancy shindig or a casual get together?  Buy-in parties are not only fun, they benefit our school.  Here’s how they work: generous parents or friends of Sauganash host a party with themes ranging from wine tastings to hot yoga.  Host or hostess underwrites the cost of the party, there is a fee to attend each party and fee is donated right back to the PTA.  Some past parties include: Moms and Margaritas, Whole Foods Craft Brew Tasting & Poker Party. Unable to host but have a great idea for a buy-in party? Let us know!

Are you a fabulous sales person with uncanny organizational skills?  Have we got a gig for you!  Help coordinate and promote all of Sauganash School’s free money programs like North Shore Community Bank, Box Tops, Shoparoo and others.

Are you a social butterfly? Foodie who frequents local restaurants? Out and about as much as a busy parent can be? Be the point-person to coordinate with local restaurants and businesses for social events outside of school hours, especially on No Attendance School Days. Past examples include Lou Malinatis Sauganash Day and Sky High (% of sales generated on certain day are donated). We want to partner with a limited amount of businesses who will partner with us throughout the year, you aren’t shy and will approach business owners and managers and create a variety of social opportunities throughout the school year.

Coordinate the coordinators.. Be the point-person for volunteer recruitment and communication with room parents as well as other parent volunteers. You are a whiz with a spreadsheet or great at organizing lots of little details so you know where volunteers are needed most and more importantly know WHO to call to ask. Maintain and update the words you are reading right now… the volunteer descriptions! Assist/take lead on Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast in Spring.

Do you pick up garbage on your walks? Do you tsk and moan while going through your trash? Want to help reduce Sauganash School’s carbon footprint and teach our children the three R’s? This committee is for you! Join our new green team and help identify places for improvement and implement new programs to help make Sauganash an eco-friendly school.

Be in the know. Get the scoop and start spreading the news! Help research, organize, and write articles for our PTO e-newsletter. Share the good word of Sauganash School to our community, stay on the lookout for events and notable achievements, and then submit them as articles and calendar listings to local papers such as The Sauganash Sounds, Edgebrook-Sauganash Times, The Reporter, DNAInfo.com and The Chicago Tribune. Work with PTO committee chairs to post up-to-the-minute info about events and activities. This committee is also responsible for maintenance of the Sauganash PTO website, Membership ToolKit Directory,Facebook and Twitter pages.

♦ Copy Printing Assistance

Would you be willing to help with the important task of helping run copies for PTO handouts that go in Friday folders from time-to-time? This is a small time commitment for someone who would have ability to be at the school between 8-3 pm. Ideal for the person who isn’t interested in an ongoing volunteer commitment but would like to help out once in a while!
